Join the Effort to Create a Salish Sea Migratory Bird Sanctuary

Writer's picture: Rick SearleRick Searle

On Oct. 28th, a request to establish a new migratory bird sanctuary along a presently unprotected portion of Greater Victoria's coastline was initiated.

For the request to be considered in parliament, a petition bearing at least 500 signatures from Canadian citizens is required.

The petition was initiated by Briony Penn from Salt Spring Island and is sponsored by Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich and Gulf Islands. It also has the support of Chief Pelkey and others at the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council.
